We fully appreciate that not all families find going on holiday a relaxing and enjoyable experience, which will inevitably be for a vast variety of reasons. We, as a family, have been on many days out and trips away, with our nephew, who is neurodivergent and see first-hand how challenging a world is, if you don’t fit into the ‘norms’ of society. We want to change this, one tiny step at a time. Our world NEEDS compassion, empathy, diversity and kindness and often these qualities are hard to find and especially when not in your normal routine or home setting.
We appreciate our camping and glamping still might not be suitable for all and we are always trying to improve its ability to cater for as many as possible. The nature of camping means that we have a lot of grass areas, however all our paths are flat. The luxury pods have two steps onto a decking area; however we do have a ramp if required (please let us know at time of booking if this is required). The doors are 1m wide but inside there are two passageways, which are narrower than this. The bell tents have a small lip onto their hardcore base they sit on. Unfortunately, our 3 shower rooms that guests from the bell tents and grass pitches use, are not currently disability bathrooms – this is something we are hoping to address in the future.
Over the last couple of years we have held an annual weekend where SEND families can come together to meet new friends, try new experiences and enjoy time together in an excepting and non-judgemental environment.
We are incredibly lucky to have the support of local businesses such as Lilidorei and Clarty Commandos, who help to provide tailored activities for all of the family.
We are currently looking at another ‘Glamp Together’ weekend for 2nd – 5th May 2025. Please keep a look out on our social media for updates and register your interest below for our next Glamp Together weekend.
We have put together the following social stories to help give an indication of what a stay at Doxford Farm Campsite would entail.
